Hindi Translation Services
International Translating Company delivers native Hindi translation for technology and software, pharmaceuticals, immigration and vital records, and media and entertainment. Hindi is the most widely spoken language in India and the third most spoken language in the world, with over 600 million speakers. It is written in the Devanagari script, an abugida with 14 vowels and 33 consonants that requires precise Unicode rendering. ITC assigns native Hindi linguists matched by industry and document type, and covers all 22 scheduled languages of India through its 230+ language capability.
Hindi Translation for Key Industries
India is the world’s fifth-largest economy and a global hub for technology, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. The US-India business corridor generates sustained demand for Hindi-to-English and English-to-Hindi translation across contracts, technical documentation, regulatory filings, marketing materials, and training content. On the individual side, approximately 4.8 million Indian-Americans generate consistent demand for immigration and vital records translation.
Technology and Software
India’s technology sector, centered in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Gurugram, serves global clients. Companies like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, and multinational tech firms with Indian operations produce documentation that requires bidirectional Hindi translation. Software localization, technical manuals, API documentation, and corporate training materials all need linguists who understand both the technology and the cultural context. ITC assigns native Hindi linguists with technology-sector experience to these projects.
Pharmaceuticals
India is the world’s largest producer of generic drugs, supplying approximately 20% of global generic medicines by volume. Pharmaceutical companies including Sun Pharma, Dr. Reddy’s, Cipla, and Lupin operate globally. Regulatory translation covers clinical trial documentation, FDA and EMA submissions, package leaflets, and manufacturing quality documentation. ITC’s experience with pharmaceutical industry translation ensures compliance with both US and Indian regulatory requirements.
Immigration and Vital Records
Documents issued by Indian government offices, including birth certificates, marriage certificates, educational transcripts, and police clearance certificates, often require certified English translation for USCIS filings, academic admissions, and professional licensing. Indian documents may be issued in Hindi, English, or a regional language depending on the state of origin. ITC delivers every immigration translation with a signed, notarized certificate of accuracy accepted by USCIS and immigration courts.
Media and Entertainment
Hindi-language media, including Bollywood cinema, television, streaming content, and publishing, generates demand for subtitling, dubbing scripts, marketing materials, and distribution agreements. ITC handles entertainment translation with linguists who understand both the cultural references and the technical requirements of media localization.
Hindi Language Expertise
Hindi Is Not the Only Language of India
India has 22 scheduled languages and over 19,500 mother tongues. Hindi is the most widely spoken, primarily across northern India in the Hindi Belt: Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and surrounding states. However, southern India (Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana) and eastern India (West Bengal) primarily use other languages. A buyer who requests “Indian translation” may need Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, or another language, not Hindi. ITC’s 230+ language scope covers all major Indian languages, and we confirm the target language with each client before assignment.
Devanagari Script
Hindi is written in Devanagari, an abugida script written left to right. In its own script, the language’s name is written हिंदी, which also commonly appears in the variant spelling हिन्दी. Devanagari has 14 vowels and 33 consonants. The script uses a distinctive horizontal line (shirorekha) connecting letters within a word. Vowel signs (matras) attach to consonants to modify their vowel sound. Conjunct consonants (samyukta akshara) form when two consonants appear together without an intervening vowel, creating ligatures that differ from the individual consonant forms. Correct Devanagari rendering requires proper font handling, Unicode normalization, and attention to conjunct formation. A translator who delivers Devanagari text with broken ligatures or incorrect matra ordering produces unusable output.
Hindi and Urdu
Spoken Hindi and Urdu share common roots in Hindustani and are mutually intelligible at the conversational level. However, Hindi is written in Devanagari and draws formal vocabulary from Sanskrit, while Urdu is written in Perso-Arabic script (Nastaliq) and draws from Persian and Arabic. In legal, governmental, and literary contexts, the two languages diverge significantly. A translator must know which target the buyer needs. ITC confirms script and register requirements before assignment and routes Urdu requests to linguists who write in Nastaliq script.
Certified Hindi Translation
Every Hindi translation ITC delivers starts with a native-speaking linguist assigned by industry and document type. Our linguists hold the highest certification available in their country and language. ITC also certifies its own translators to internal standards on a more frequent cycle than external bodies require.
A qualified translator alone is not enough. Every project runs through a multi-step process: translation by a native linguist, independent proofreading and editing by a separate linguist who compares the translation against the source line by line, and a quality assurance review that checks for non-linguistic errors including Devanagari rendering, matra ordering, and conjunct formation.
For US-side legal, immigration, and court work, ITC issues a signed, notarized certificate of accuracy attesting that the translation is faithful to the source, complete, and performed by a translator competent to do the work.

What is the Devanagari script?
Devanagari is the abugida script used to write Hindi, Marathi, Nepali, and Sanskrit. It has 14 vowels and 33 consonants, written left to right with a horizontal connecting line. Vowel signs (matras) attach to consonants, and conjunct consonants form ligatures. Correct rendering requires proper Unicode font handling.
Do you handle Hindi website and software localization?
Yes. ITC provides Hindi localization for software interfaces, websites, mobile apps, and technical documentation. Devanagari rendering in digital environments requires attention to font support, text input methods, and layout considerations.
