Language Data Management Services

Training data quality is the bottleneck for multilingual AI. Crowdsourced labels and machine-translated data degrade model performance, and the gap between a working model and a production-grade model is almost always the labeled data layer. ITC provides multilingual data labeling in 230+ languages, with trained native-speaking annotators, multi-step QA measured through inter-annotator agreement, and the security posture AI/ML programs require. Tell us your data type, your taxonomy, and your languages, and we will scope an annotation program for your pipeline.

Multilingual Data Labeling for AI and ML Platforms

For ML engineers and data science teams building NLP pipelines, search relevance systems, content moderation tools, or conversational AI, the quality of labeled training data determines the quality of the model. ITC provides trained native-speaking annotators who work to buyer-defined taxonomies, not crowdsourced generalists applying labels in whatever language they happen to speak. Programs are continuous, high-volume, and security-sensitive. Dedicated project managers handle annotator assignment, batch delivery, and quality checkpoints across the full program lifecycle. Organizations like Amazon, Google, and Autodesk rely on ITC for language work because the production discipline meets the standard a multilingual AI pipeline demands.

Data Annotation for Financial Services and Insurance

Fraud detection NLP, regulatory text classification, sentiment analysis on customer communications, transaction monitoring. Financial text carries domain vocabulary that a general annotator pool cannot label correctly. ITC provides annotators trained on regulatory and transactional terminology, with documented data security controls and GLBA-aware handling available for compliance-sensitive programs. The domain match is part of the program scoping: the right annotator for the right taxonomy, not a generic pool reassigned to financial data.

Clinical and Life Sciences Data Annotation

Clinical NLP, medical record classification, pharmacovigilance text mining, real-world evidence programs. Healthcare annotation requires annotators with medical terminology familiarity and HIPAA-aware controls. ITC provides annotators drawn from the same qualified pool that underwrites its interpreter workforce for healthcare, and operates under HIPAA-aware controls with Business Associate Agreements available for covered entities. Legal and Government Data Services

Legal document classification, contract analysis, e-discovery, multilingual records processing. Legal and government text requires annotators with awareness of jurisdictional terminology and document classification conventions. ITC has experience working with federal, state, local, and foreign government agencies. For legal data work, handling is privilege-aware and NDA-ready. Learn more about ITC’s legal work.

Data Work Modes: Labeling, Curation, Enrichment

Data Labeling and Annotation

Applying labels to text, audio, or image data per a defined taxonomy. Right for training-data preparation, content classification, sentiment labeling, intent labeling, slot filling, and image captioning in target languages. The most common mode and the highest-volume use case.

Dataset Curation and Building

Selecting, filtering, cleaning, and organizing data into training, validation, and test sets. Right for new dataset creation, edge-case curation, balancing class distribution across languages, and dataset versioning. The annotator’s job is data quality control, not just label application.

Data Enrichment and NLP Annotation

Adding linguistic metadata to existing data: named entity tags, parse trees, dependency relations, coreference chains, relationship labels, sentiment scores, intent labels. Right for NLU pipelines, conversational AI training, and knowledge-graph construction. Requires annotators with linguistic training, not just native fluency.

How the Annotation Process Works

Annotation runs on a different process than translation. Translation’s job is fidelity to source. Annotation’s job is producing structured labels a model can learn from. Every program follows the same data-operations system:

  • Annotation guideline development and annotator training. The buyer and ITC co-develop the labeling taxonomy, edge-case rules, and adjudication logic. Annotators are trained on the guideline with practice rounds and qualification checks before they touch production data.
  • Multi-annotator labeling with agreement checks. Two or more annotators label the same items. ITC measures inter-annotator agreement using Cohen’s kappa, Fleiss’ kappa, or Krippendorff’s alpha, depending on the task. Disagreement patterns surface guideline ambiguities and annotator drift, which feed back into guideline refinement.
  • Senior-annotator adjudication and final QA. Disagreements escalate to senior annotators or domain experts for adjudication. Final QA reviews a sample of labeled items for guideline compliance and edge-case handling before delivery.
  • Buyer feedback loop. The buyer reviews labeled batches, surfaces errors, and the guideline and annotator pool adapt. The program improves iteratively, not in a single pass.

The measure of label quality is the process that produces the labels, not a blanket accuracy claim. Inter-annotator agreement metrics give the buyer visibility into label quality at the data level, which is what a technical buyer needs to evaluate.

Why ITC

ITC’s annotators are trained native-speaking professionals in 230+ languages, drawn from ITC’s qualified linguist base and selected for annotation aptitude and domain relevance. Annotators are not crowdsourced generalists, and they are not translators repurposed as data labelers. They are trained on the buyer’s specific taxonomy and guideline before production work begins.

Security posture: NDA-ready handling of confidential and pre-launch training data is standard. Encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, secure facilities, and PII-handling protocols are documented and available for buyer review. For healthcare data, HIPAA-aware controls with BAAs available. For financial data, GLBA-aware handling. For legal data, privilege-aware processing.

Since 1969, ITC has operated as a full-service language partner across content creation, translation, interpreting, and data. Organizations like Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and Mayo Clinic trust ITC because the work meets the standard regulated and technical buyers require.

Languages Available

ITC covers 230+ languages for annotation, including the less-common languages that platform vendors and boutique annotation firms typically cannot staff: Amharic, Burmese, Karen, Pashto, Dari, Tigrinya, and indigenous Mesoamerican languages. Taxonomy consistency across languages is maintained through annotation guideline discipline: the taxonomy is defined once, annotators in each language are trained on the same guideline with language-specific edge-case rules, and cross-language agreement samples verify consistency. For consumer and e-commerce programs, this means product categorization and sentiment labels hold across markets, whether the data is in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Tagalog.
